The company LLC “Edinstvo” (Norilsk Nickel group of the companies) signed a cooperation agreement with FSUE “Morsviazsputnik”, the operator of the “Polar Express” project. The parties have identified key areas for cooperation.

 The document was signed by the general director of “Edinstvo” Tatyana Mokhova and the head of FSUE “Morsviazsputnik” -  Andrey Kuropyatnikov.

The main interest for both sides is the development of a long-term mutually beneficial cooperation in the frames of the project for the construction of the transarctic submarine fiber-optic cable line (FOCL) with exit points along the Northern Sea Route from Murmansk to Vladivostok. The implementation of the project will give impetus to the launch of many digital initiatives and, in general, will positively affect the development and formation of the digital infrastructure of the Arctic macro-region and the neighboring territories.

“Edinstvo” and “Morsviazsputnik will coordinate their work in accordance with the signed agreement.

About the project
"Polar Express" - a project for the construction of a transarctic submarine fiber-optic cable line (FOCL) Murmansk-Vladivostok with the exit points along the coast of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and the Far Eastern Federal District is being implemented under the leadership of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot) by its subordinate enterprises – “Rosmorport”, FSUE and “Morsviazsputnik”, FSUE. 
The high-tech FOLC "Polar Express" with a total length of 12,650 km includes 6 pairs of optical fibers and has a capacity of 52-104 Terabit per second. The project provides for the installation of 150 underwater optical amplifiers (repeaters) and the deployment of 10 landing points (land stations) from Murmansk to Vladivostok (Teriberka, Amderma, Dikson, Tiksi, Pevek, Anadyr, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Vladivostok, Nakhodka). At present moment a line on the Teriberka-Amderma section is being laid.
