Government of Sakha Republic, "Morsviazsputnik" and "ArcticTelecom" signed a cooperation agreement

On April 04, 2022 a business meeting between the Prime Minister of the Sakha (Yakutia) Republic A.V. Tarasenko, the minister of innovations, digital development and info-communication technologies of the Sakha (Yakutia) Republic A.A. Semyonov , Morsviazsputnik General Director A.D. Kuropyatnikov and JSC “ArcticTelekom” Deputy General Director for business development V.A. Sergeyev took place. During the meeting, the parties signed a cooperation agreement.

The agreement outlines the connection of Tiksi town, Bulunsky District, to the backbone transarctic submarine fiber-optic communication line "Polar Express"* in 2025. It is also planned to jointly examine the possibility of additional connection to this backbone communication line of Yuryung-Khay village in Anabarsky district, Naiba village in Bulunsky district, Nizhneyansk village in Ust-Yansky district, Russkoye Ustye village in Allaikhovsky district and Chersky village in Nizhnekolymsky district.

In 2020 “ArcticTelecom” has already deployed internal optical communication networks in Tiksi town, Bulunsky District. Thus, when connecting the town to the backbone line, subscribers will be immediately able to take advantage of high-speed Internet access and digital services.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the use of satellite communication solutions and services offered by Morsviazsputnik.

"Polar Express" - a project for the construction of a transarctic submarine fiber-optic cable line (FOCL) Murmansk-Vladivostok with the exit points along the coast of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and the Far Eastern Federal District with a total length of 12,650 km. The Project implementation will allow connecting the regions of the Arctic coast of Russia and the Far Eastern Federal District to the new submarine backbone line, will provide reliable and high-speed communication channels for port infrastructure in the Arctic, on the Northern Sea Route and in the Far Eastern Federal District. Polar Express will contribute to the development of saving technologies for the northern regions and technologies for creating data centers infrastructure, which, in turn, will be able to meet the needs of growing online trade, cloud technologies and big data.
